Crossing from Australia to New Zealand for cancer

Postby John Kenedy » Wed Oct 27, 2004 11:29 am

Hey everybody its john here i am the person who is organising the old school compitition at the sushine coast on the 13th and 14th of november. i have being talking to Ben Wilson, Maurcio and Andre Phillipe , they will be making a crossing from Australia to New Zealand kite surfing. they Aren't just doing this to hold a world record the main reason for this is to raise money for the cure for cancer. They will be launching from Kawana waters on the sunshine coast on the 8th of november. as most of you would know that it would be impossible to kite through the night, to cope for this there will be a fleet of support boats. The boys will be landing there kites every night at 5:30 pm and launching in the morning at 10:00 am (wind dependant). Also as they will not be able to kite for a few weeks every day they plan to have 2 day's rest after every 5 days that they kite. The date in which they will arrive will be posted once the journey is underway. i would also just like to note that this is not for a world record it is to raise money for the cure for cancer

The transahara will be over soon.
We will need the transtasman for something else to laugh at.

It's just as ridiculous. These full supported adventure attempts are a joke and most people could care less about a kiteboard crossing an ocean alongside a boat.

Better to give the boat charter & fuel money directly to cancer research.

Then go and kite for fun in obscurity.

Luck they're not going the other way - Mr Howard might not let them land. Seriously though - this is amazing, we reckon it'll take about a month if they ride every day. We want to know more!
