So we all talk about about how much wind our kite can handle.
I know I was out on my 12m Thruster in winds 35mph +.
So, how do I proof this?
I got no pix or video.
What I want to see is:
Proof the insane conditions you have been out in with a kite you thought was way to big but manged to be able to control.

I am sure we can get some kick ass pix and video from all of us, no?
But: don't do anything stupid, there is nothing to win here.
Also: Len10 is not allowed to post his stuff,...he wins regardless.

We all have been out in conditions we should not have been in, so : let's see how proud you are of your gear. I know I am, wish to be able to share the experience. Maybe you can,

I know what you mean...problem is whos going to do the filming...no-one want to stay on the beach when it is nuking...

Although I I know I have been in super strong winds with the Helix, I am not sure if I would go out in those conditions knowingly..it has been more of the oh..that squall came in faster and way more furious than I anticipated...not really because I don;t think the kite can handle it, but because it is way more comfortable riding in slightly more moderate conditions...

Also the wind strength the gear can take can be greatly different from spot to spot. Some spots have fairly consitent winds,...and some spots the wind will be normal one moment, then super strong, then change directions...and with higher gusts...and obviously will tend to have more riders give up...

i've done 30 knots on my 11m sonic before, and i'm a lightweight at 63kg. it was fairly hairy but the adjustable bridle made life a lot easier - the kite goes really stable even in high wind when you move the KPO forwards.

probably the most overpowered i've been was on my 10m monsoonz when a squall came through and the wind went from 10 knots to 25 knots in the space of 2 minutes. i had it on a 1:1 bar and i reckon it's got about 1.5 times as much power as the 11m sonic. like a true idiot, i waited until the wind was strongest then sent it hard. probably one of the biggest jumps i've ever done. would not like to do it again though.

I've often wondered what wind speed my kite was actually seeing during a session. Even if u have a wind gauge, there is some shadowing going on, and wind at the ground is probably different than wind 25 m up. There is also a lot of variation in the wind here, both momentary gusts and just up and down variation. My feeling from all wind gauge info, both on the beach and at reporting stations is that I can hold down my 15m Waroo in low 30mph wind (but I can't proof it, I do weigh 255 and ride a 143 stretch). I rode this spring on a lake where the chop was breaking and the spray from the tops of the chop was blowing 40 m on to my kite. Extremely wild session, more surviving than riding...

I put a '03 Naish AR5 7.5m up in winds gusting up to 40 kts. Did not make it to the water tho.

I had once in Egypt a 12.0 Rhino04 in 30 gusting to 40 knots out...one of those days I will never forget...and the sore stomach muscles for one week...I wish I had a video from that day!

According to our online weatherstation at the spot, I was sunday kiting with my Switchblade 2006 9m2 in winds over a period of 30 minutes at 15ms (30 knots), with the strongest period of one minute at 19ms/38knots and gusting to 20,6ms/41 knots. Oh, and I am 68kg..
