You know its the start of the kite year when there is a cabrihna recal Happened last year too.

It makes no sense how they can test it and use it for who knows how long; put it into production; then have second thoughts about it.

They sent out an email which clears it up.

"Due to a recent discovery of a manufacturing defect in production..."

"We have discovered, in a very small number of cases that the internal diameter of the bungee guide does not meet our specification, due to an unauthorized modification by Cabrinha's supplier."

Sounds like a good name for a new Cabrinha gimmick/catch phrase. Let's see they had: Recon, Powerdrive, Override and IDS. So in 2015 they bring Cabrinha Recall. I vote for Total Recall next year.

So I don't get the risk. So what if the coil gets stuck in the bottom bungee handle? My 2013 bar appears to have the same design. Im able to shove the spring in there and then it clicks out. I do the same on my 2015 bar with same amount of pressure/force. Exact same reaction with the same stress force.

I wish the recall was something like "We are recalling because realized that we made the 2015 bar way too annoying to wind up" Anyone else hate the wind up?!

And... yet another reason for Cabrinha to finally ditch the bungee straps and use a rope and cleat!!!!

If you let go of the bar and it got stuck. Or if you wanted to push the bar all the way and compress the spring; but it was bound up and wouldn't depower. Maybe these out of spec ones jam bad.

It reads like not every batch is wrong, so you may have got one of the better ones.

At least they are fixing the problem.

I had an 09 Xbow pulley fail through rust and although they knew there were batches of faulty pulleys, the policy seemed to be that they would replace each one when it failed, so I bought 2 whole new sets of pulleys because the pulleys on both my kites were rusting.

I think its good that they are fixing the problem like this, but they should have a tracing system to allow them to contact everyone with a faulty bar. It is a safety issue if the depower jams.

Yes I do hate the windup of the 2013 bar. Its difficult not to get a kink in the tube and there is a lot of bulk to it.
