Hookipa the day after the Tsunami!

Hey everyone,
We got a treat the other day when Maui County closed down Hookipa Beach Park to everyone and would not let anyone launch at the beach.
This was a result of the devastating Tsunami that hit Japan and also on Maui (but much smaller luckily).
Water was still surging in Maui for a couple days after the tsunami with minor tidal surges as I noticed the Bone Yard went dry by 1 to 2 ft or .5 m of exposed reef two days after the tsunami!!
Kiters Jammed out to the point at Hookipa while the windsurfers were trying to figure out how to get into the water. I passed by on my way to Kanaha with my daughters to kite and noticed 5 kiters and two windsurfers at the point and the gates of Hookipa park were locked up. Called Neil Pryde Maui to see if Kanaha was open for kiting. Luckily it was not! I told my girls there was a change in plans!!
Here are some of Epes Sargent Photos. If you need photos when in Maui, look up Epes at his email of sargentphotography@hawaii.rr.com
Hope you like the photos, AA
There are some more pics at http://alexaguera.com/home/waveriding-photos/ also!
