Catalyst vs C4 for boosting and hangtime.

Postby Jdizzle » Sat Jan 07, 2012 8:09 pm

I currently ride Catalyst's but want to change to a bridled C for unhooking and kiteloops. I've tried loads of different kites including the C4 which I really like. The problem is, I need a kite for a few weeks before I get to know it. I've only ridden the C4 a few times in rubbish conditions, so I couldn't really test it's boosting capabilities.

I mainly want a good kite to unhook and kiteloop but I also love to boost!

Anyone know how the C4 compares to the Catalyst in this respect.

Cheers :thumb:

Very good kite for kiteloops especially on 20m lines, good kite for boosting too because of it's flying speed and a good ripoff from the water :thumb: Very satisfied, this is my 3rd year flying C4's and love it !

What line lengths come with the C4? 20m + 5m extensions? The Catalyst comes with 25m lines as standard.

Yeah, I ride my 9m C4 mostly on 18m now :)

Love it for fast response, high boosting and bit Kiteloops in higher winds :D :thumb:

Love it :cool2:

I have a 9m c4 and a 6m catalyst (used by my girlfriend most of the time).

I prefer the c4 for high jumping,, and everything else. The catalyst is a great kite for newbies, very forgiving, you can do big mistakes without it pulling you to death and it's very easy to handle. While this is a good thing for new riders, experienced ones will find it to be "weak".

For sure, I love the Cat for high winds, had the 8m out in 40 knots+ loads of times :)

my quiver is now
15m speed
13m edge
10m c4
6m reo.

If you want loop master then the c4 for is the bee's knees. but if you want hangtime. the edge is the cats whiskers. ..... .. .. . ..

so i have chosen the C4 for the 18-28 knot range for those dynamic loopy style of sessions. for teh lighter winds. edge for gliding through the sky. 13m edge in 20+ knots has stupid hang time. Some times i feel like the glide of the edge and other times i feel like the punch of the c4..... oh yeah. then when the wind is nuking and the waves are big. my storm kite. the 6m reo.

now only if i could shoehorn an 8m cat in there aswell i'd have the perfect quiver for me!

The 8m cat is a beaut! It boosts frickin massive in high winds! I am always going to keep an 8m cat as my smallest kite, it rocks :mosh:
