IKA News:
2014 World Rankings Update
The 2014 Kiteboarding World Rankings have been updated with the results of the first 2014 event, the KTA Indonesia in Bintan which finished last weekend.
Changes in the world rankings mainly reflect the new ranking system for Formula Kite, counting each sailors best 6 events over the past 12 months, but with a maximum of 3 major events (world and continental championships). This puts more emphasis on attending regional events and therefore brought some changes in the rankings.
The new rankings also include the inaugural TwinTip:Racing World Rankings, a new feeder and entry level racing class being granted ISAF class status on last years ISAF annual conference.
Another new class - not yet having ISAF class status - is the KiteFoil class for hydrofoiling raceboards, with the first event for the rankings being held in La Ventana, Mexico, in March 2014.
The rankings for the slalom and wave disciplines will be updated after the first 2014 events.
