Super Sunday at Ponta Preta
We got a nice video of our trip to Cabo Verde, captured on Super Sunday, the day with the biggest waves in 7 years.
“It happens once every 7 year at Ponta Preta, waves as big as houses. We were lucky to be there to capture Elvis Jose Almeida Nunes with the new Swell v2 on Super Sunday.
After kitesurfing the big waves for a couple of hours, Elvis was unlucky, got thrown off his board by the foam crashed his kite and spend almost 2 minutes under. His friend Airton rescued him and he got back out there!”
However this video has a unique twist which shows you the importance of riding with your friends!”

That is some pretty gnarly conditions...
I don't know Punta preda, but I think its just rocks downwind.
Kudos to Airton for pulling him out and to Elvis for getting back out there!

For real??? And reserve the beaches for sunbathing and swimming? Doesn't look so good for that to me...

yes...there was a petition a while ago.
And, also on another wave spot, similar to Ponta Preta and close by...same thing...a resort...it's a disaster.

These guys are my heros!!! I almost puked just watching the video!!! I felt every heart beat. But my instructor just told me I'll be ready to face these waves in a couple of years. It's worth living just for that wave. It's awe-inspiring!!! I think Pete Cabrinha holds the record, right? 20m wave?

2 years is probably a bit early for those types of waves unless your already a seasoned surfer.
Just build up slowly.
Big waves like that are scare as hell out of you but at the same time predictable. They also suck the water smooth. If you have the right conditions/experience big waves can be ridden with relative ease. After a while the fear retreats and you know what you can and can't get away with. Then its all fun........

I have and I think they are great wave riding and free ride kites, but my opinions doesn't weigh much
