Nobile 666 135x44 Questions

Postby 5mmkiter » Thu Jul 05, 2007 2:59 pm

I am trying to decide between the 132x42?? and the 135x44 sizes for a 66 board.

I am 200lbs and would like a board to ride between 15-30knots. Which one should I get. Am I going to be able to hold down the 44 width in 30knots.

Is anyone on here riding this board and can comment on this. I have searched and found a few good posts but most seem to be quite old. So just looking for some more reviews or suggestions.

I've been using the 132x41 and the Ext 139x46 and I'm roughly the same weight as you.
I use the Ext in under 15 knots and then would change to the 132, This is mainly because my biggest kite is a 11m sonic.
The 132 would be fine for all but the lightest of winds with a bigger kite.. They plane up incredibly early and go fast which generates a lot of apparent wind.
I haven't ridden the 135x44 so cant comment.
I really enjoy riding the Ext, probably more than the 132 and for this reason have been tempted to just have one board at 135x44.
either boards would handle the conditions you suggest well, they both hold masses of power, yours legs would buckle before the board breaks out.
Both boards are incredible fast and rocket upwind.
Not the best in waves but for everything else they take some beating.
Like I said either would do it's just your preference with size.

I´m 80kg "only" and tested both sizes side by side in 9/10-15/16kts.
For an active rider of my size, there´s absolutely no benefit from the increased width of the 44 and the acceleration of the 41 is absolutely unbeaten.
41 is a special one in the 666 line up and with 15 kts granted don´t even waste one more second of thinking ..

I rode the 132 for several months, then changed to the 135. I prefer the extra length. I'm the same weight as you.

I had ridden a 135 board the previous season (Sky's Pro model). It was 135 x 41, which I found to be the magic size for my riding.

Shorter boards are more pitchy. Longer is smoother.

After riding the 135 666 for about a month, I decided the width should be 42, not 44, so I cut mine down to 42 wide.

If I could make the perfect Nobile 666, it would have the flex of the 132, and dimensions of 135 x 42. Mark I hope you read this. The 135 is stiffer than the 132. It didn't need to be stiffer in my opinion. Or make next years 132, 135 long and I'll have the perfect board.

How about the Shinn 133/42 - almost 135/42! :D

Not tried it myself but did try the shinn 130/40 (me 85kgs) and it felt very classy.

I totally agree with Dwight about the longer boards being smoother. I found the 555 135x40 to be the best size for me (and I'm fairly lightweight.) I have no problem holding it down in 30 knots.

friend of mine did the same customization with his Shinn 07 - maybe Nobile is going to deliver a saw with the 08 models ?

I am riding both. For your requirements 132 is better

i have the 135x 44 and it works great

i am an intermediate kiteboarder, raileys whatever unhooked the deal.

i weigh 150, i thought it would be too big at first but if you edge properly the thin rails work great in high wind

and in low wind im planing good.

sounds good to me

Peace
