currently the first 2 racers at the PKRA Portugal Course Race event are on directionals...

I will let you know who will win this stop and the gear he was on.

Probably if you ride in flat water like a lagoon the edge of a twin-tip board is the best, but if you ride in open sea with choppy or waves, long fins of a directional board do the work better.

any pictures / dimensions of whats working well for the race boards (directional). What about the big barn doors with reverse rail (snow board style rails) they rip upwind (spleen style),...anyone tried these on the race course yet?

In 07 we have started a series of Races cald Cabrinha Kite Race. (See earlier post with links to pictures ect.)

We are experimenting with different boards. Until now these boards have succes going up- and downwind.

Spleene Door 64 with some modifications and a Magic Wave Custom board. Both boards have "spoilers" which is needed going fast downwind.

the first two on the PKRA course race event in Portugal are on surfboards...
3rd is Shawn on the North Phantom.

And interesting, Bruno, #1 currently, was on a Takoon Air 16 (C kite) during some races, while others had smaller kites and flat...

So the board is more important than the kite?

We have so much room for discussion here, it is unbelievable...same on the beach during the races, about tactic, kites, boards, tacks etc...so far it is hard to tell, which combinations will win...and don't forget the weight of a rider, that could change things as well...
