Day 5 - PKRA - Gard Kitesurf World Cup 2007

After a fun-filled, action-packed fourth day, the Gard Kitesurf World Cup
2007 competition once again came to a grinding halt coming into its fifth day of event. Today, the sun was up which provided a mild weather condition maintaining a 19 to 20 degrees Celsius of temperature, the only thing missing was the wind.

As usual, most of the riders were seen hanging out at the riders lounge with their laptops updating their personal websites or checking out the latest photos and videos of the PKRA World Cup on the internet. The rest were seen with their books and other reading materials and playing foosball while the others took time out to bask in the sun. Several competitors pulled out their equipment to pump out and let it dry out from yesterday’s soaking day.

The competition was called off at 16:00h exactly before a late day thunderstorm rolled in. After the thunderstorm, there was a noticeable temperature drop, setting a cool Wednesday evening. The disc jockey from N-JOY still provided some lively music, although there were only a couple of people out on the beach because of the wet conditions. The wind forecast for tomorrow is still bleak as it will probably be another no-wind event with overcast skies in the morning to late afternoon but this weekend should provide good wind for a grand finale. The mandatory skippers meeting is set for 10:00am tomorrow with first possible start of 10:30am.

Be sure to catch the live free concert at the beach on Friday, 19:00h with three bands performing powered by N-JOY THE BEACH party series, plus the Breakdance Show and Battle on Saturday starting at 12:00pm. Keep tuning in to http://www.youtube.com/extremeelementstv and http://www.extremeelements.tv for fresh HD-quality PKRA world tour videos and highlights. Like I said in another post Sky would be the benchmark.
Now who want to come race in SF Bay? :D

How close was he (Sky) in races to the 1st place guy?

Day 6 - PKRA - Gard Kitesurf World Cup 2007

The Gard Kitesurf World Cup 2007 is on its 6th day but not much happened except for a action-filled competition during the third day. The absence of the wind had led to several wind delays but the riders are very much in high spirit looking forward to the next events and all fired up to compete against each other and show who’s the best. The day started out foggy with calm wind. Later, the sun burned off the fog which provided a delightful weather with the usual 19 degrees Celsius temperature. The wind is still breezy from the west-northwest direction and the forecast for tomorrow seems to be the same, but everyone is looking forward to a grand weekend, as the forecast starting on Saturday seems to be very promising.

With not much to do, the competitors were content just hanging out in the riders lounge playing with the PS2 video game or joined in the foosball tournament while most were seen reading books, checking emails or watching movies on their laptops.

The event organizers commissioned a jetski to pull the competitors along a “sliderâ€Â

Today we had one race in very light winds!
We had onshore wind, and I took the Flysurfer Silver Arrow in 19 sqm and the Monster Door...I couldn't really make it to the starting line for the green flag...and once I passed the start line, I did a long tag and when I came back I was even further downwind of the judge boat than before...so I went back to the beach immediately, since I didn't want to bother trying to go to the upwind buoy and wasting my energy. On the beach already 4 guys were waiting, since they couldn't go upwind as well, including world champion Bruno Sroka...

We told the head judge, that it is not fair to start in such light winds, and maybe the results get cancelled...we will see!
