Hey,
I happen to be born and raised in bora bora and also learned to kite there. To put it simply, it is not a kiting destination, it's a nice romantic paradise type of place and if it happens to be windy and you have a kite with you then it's a bonus. The average wind over the year is around 15knts which seems good, but it hardly blows for more than 3 days straight and we can long down times. when the wind is light it's not very steady which is why most everyone here only has a 12m kite. There are not many beginner friendly spots as most of them are cross-offshore winds and have coral you need to watch out for. the main windy season is July-august when we can get trades up to 25knts but this year everything is out of whack so who knows if it'll produce this year. The kite spots are awesome flat water in the prettiest lagoon in the world. it's really expensive though, especially now that the dollar is so low. you can find good deals in "pensions" sort of local bed and breakfast. the best one would be "Chez Nono", which is right on our "kite beach", and there is a really talented local crew that can help out right next door as well.
this is the map of the spots from our local website: (note, it hardly ever blows from the NW, W,SW, S and if it does, it's usually really stormy and crappy, the best winds are SE, E, NE)
