correct spelling is "Lac du Salagou", next to Clermont l'Hérault. Maybe 45minutes from Montpellier.
That should help you googling for more info...
Being quite far inland and surrounded with some medium relief, the seabreeze doesn't go all the way there, which leaves the main dominant wind from the NW express itself freely...
During sunny days in spring/summer, it can be strong wind (30kts) there while there's a weak seabreeze on the coast. When there's NW everywhere, including on the coast, it'll get even stronger on the lake.
There's a good camping setup over there to chill out, and it's a nice place.
BUT: my memories come back from my windsurfing days. More than 10 years ago... take that with a grain of salt...
As far as I remember, the wind can be quite gusty/shifty (kind of typical for a lake, big gusts, followed by looong lulls...). Good place for windsurfing.
The setup isn't (wasn't) super friendly for launching kites.
The bottom of the lake is a mix of mud rocks and branches. I've wrecked some toes over there!
I'm sure there are kiters going there every now and then. Get in touch with them for regulations, etc...!
