Tenerife beginner spots

My girlfriend and I are going to spend next week in Tenerife
(arriving tuesday the 4th and leaving the 12th)

She is a beginner - rides fairly stable in one direction but is not doing so well on the other tack.
I'm an instructor.

Which spots should we go to in order to give her the best opportunities to learn???

Get yourself down to El Medano in the south, it's a great spot, plenty of schools & shops and they'll guide you accordingly, depends where wind is coming from.

I wouldn't say there are beginner spots.

From kitebeach in the south bay, if the wind is light enough, the conditions can be quite nice side on, but a bit gusty near the shore and you might be unlucky and have a shorebreak to contend with, but at low tide, its better.

Bjorn runs a kite school from behind the Surf Centre on Kitebeach, and they do lessons at Tejita beach in cross-offshore wind, but with a helmet intercom and a boat for backup. I thought the wind there was more gusty and there can be a severe shorebreak, but the water is flat.

Ideally, you want just a little bit more wind than this kiter has got.

I would also go to Medano - it's a fantastic spot. Great food, nice boardwalk...
good for beginners?..if you crack Medano you'll love the rest of your kiting career..it's awesome.

I'm from Tenerife. Médano bay is the best in Tenerife. The wind is a little gusty but it is a very good spot. To learn, much better at low tide because there is more beach and more sand and if there is any problem drifts to the beach without problems.

Shorty wet suits required
Best hotels within walking distance are Playa Sur (right on the beach) or Hotel Medano (in the town)
I've stayed at Hotel medano a few times and it's a great spot if you dont mind wrestling with the oldies at mealtimes

Been to Medano many times, always stay in the Casa Medano apts.

They're right beside Flashpoint Bar, (great for breakfast and apres kite beers)
Have a number for Pauline who runs 4/5 apts there, I'll PM you her number.
As said before, it can be a little gusty, especially close to shore thanks to Hotel Medano , however once you clear the hotel the wind is less gusty, also as said before if your girlfriend can crack Medano she'll kite almost anywhere.
Oh yeah make sure you bring small kites and if NE wind is forecast you can add at least 10kts to whatever windguru is forecasting, sometimes it's almost double.

Are you really serious about that at this time of the year.... Forecast looks like really low wind.
My small kites have not yet arrived so i currently only have 10 and 12m - Didn't expect to use bigger kites on this trip.... But maybe I can borrow a kite from a friend though i would rather not...

Do you guys think really think i need a small kite for Tenerife the next week?
