Big waves self-rescue technique: kite fishing

Postby Wawando » Sun Sep 26, 2010 9:33 pm

Hi,

When the sea is big i have a golden rule that is: save the monkey, f*** the gear!
Although i always use this pinciple and i come to shore dragged by the kite, i never blew-up a kite.
I use a simple technique that i would like to share that is very simple.
1) When i see that shit will hit the fan i release immediately and only leave the security leash (always ready to be triggered, of course)
2) Then, to avoid the kite from blowing i use 1m or 2m of the leash that i pull-in and then release gradually to absorb the impact of the wave on the kite
3) Then i repeat the procedure for every wave

Of course this is not linear because you are being hit by big waves and have to dive to rescue your skin, so be very carefull not to roll in the lines. :thumb:

Disclaimer: is the waves are big, don't go in. Kite facilitates, but if shit hits the fan, it is very, very tough to save your life... :-?

See you!
