Overall The KITE wins.

the reason is that the kiter has a super advandage by moving the kite up and down & looping -creating more power than the sailboats - in the downwind course.

So here are the positions in the podium :
1 KITE
2 MOTH
3 49er.

the moth is faster especially downwind than the 49er (though the 49er beats the moth close hauled and if the wind is lighter) and the kite but if you choose the course right you can get the kite to win easily, first you make sure the course is near to shore the kite will be able to take advantage of the large wind gradients so they can pull the higher winds up high (out to sea a mile or so and the wind gradient drops down a lot) and if you put the windward, leeward course at a small angle you can negate the upwind ability of the sailboats.

I'm calling kite wins easily then moth and last 49er. Choose a different race course you'll get different results.

after all kiters put on the race

seems like fun tho.

Why don't they have three different style race courses?
