Killer! I want to say the kiters won, but "the winner was dominant" throws me off since I'd think Kent and Garry would hang with Damien.
I'm going to throw my bet up on the Moth. I'm guess it had a better angle with similar speed, and didn't lose enough ground downwind to be passed by the faster kiters?

I'm with Pasty, the 49ers fly upwind and will be able to get straight down the run in this much wind, where the kiter will have to put a few gybes in..

The 49er could go 180 deg dead down wind but I don't think there is a wind speed that the polar diagram for a 49er has 180 as best angle.

the guy that spent <$4000 and can get big air and can set up and pack his gear in <10 minutes and put it in the trunk (or bike) wins every time in my book.
First of all these conditions are the sweet spot for the Moth and 49er. For pure speed though the guy on the moth regularly trains in my backyard and in 10 to 15 knots is really tough to beat especially on a reach he pumps that sail like a crazy mofo, gusty conditions can help competition if he goes off the foils in the lulls. Under 10 knots 49 will kick ass those things are flying around in that crap all day long around here. Over 20 knots kite is king and if there is any significant chop or waves it won't be so close.
Anyway I'm sure this marketing clip wouldn't be posted if the Cab kite didn't dominate
I would have liked to have been there just to get a 25 foot aerial view of the competition

Sorry to get off topic but how big is the Miami area 49er fleet? 49er is the only olympic class that isn't lame.

I don't know the size of the local fleet since i only know a few people that race them locally but there are at least 20 boats that come to train and race in Key Biscayne for the Rolex OCR in January.
