kiteforum whats the score ?

Hi Toby think this questions aimed at you . Been popping in on this forum here and there since I started kiting and was just wondering how it was set up(did u nick the idea of a pair of olympic rowers !) , how many members , is it ever going to be sold to Google etc ! Just a brief history would be interesting , to some , I'm sure .

started in September 2001 after my girlfriend bitching at me that I waist my time on a German kite forum...so I started my own, so she cannot say anything

Growing since then, it has about 25.000 + users.

Back then there was a kitesurfing Yahoo group, but about summer 2002 kiteforum was stronger then it, attracting more people, also due to the better forum software.

I don't see the need to sell it to anyone, therefore I love it too much! And I don't think it makes sense for any multi to buy something small like this, so I don't worry about any offer!

And this September it will be 10 years old!!! And I am proud that so many people came on here and helped so many other people with their knowledge!

Anything else you would like to know?

do any of the big names put pressure on you , regarding subjects etc ? with 25000 members thats got to be a large slice of the market they can reach on here?

By the way your shots and vids on another string are excellent. Much easier to at least see whats happening than the handlepass brigade...or maybe I'm just getting old.
