May 27-29, 2010 – Starting each day when the wind comes up.

KiteFest ALASKA 2011
The fourth annual KiteFest ALASKA will be held in Homer, Alaska this May 27-29,
2011, at Mariner Park. The event is for men and women of all ages who are currently
kitesurfers, want to learn or are just curious. The event will be held at Mariner Park
at the base of the Spit, in Homer, Alaska. Participants are welcome to camp on the
beach (fee) or arrange their own accommodations elsewhere. The event is intended to
teach the sport to newcomers and help intermediate riders push their limits. Our many
sponsors will have demo gear available for participants all weekend. Kitesurfing gear
and other items will be available by raffle and live auction as well as a gear swap.

Some of the events we have planned:
–Trainer kite/Ground School – (beginners) – held throughout each day of the
event.
–Intermediate/advanced techniques taught one-on-one (additional fee).
–Down wind spit race.
­­–Kiter diner at Cosmic Kitchen.
–Free food.
-Sat. night bonfire, live auction, gear giveaway, BBQ, party at Mariner
Park.
–Demo equipment from top kite industry sponsors such as Dakine,
Mystic,
F–One, Epic, HQ and Ozone.

Participants will be able to use demo equipment, attend all classes, BBQ, parties, raffle,
live auctions, etc with a suggested donation of $50/weekend and $20/day.

Wind is the name of the game in kiteboarding so our schedule will vary depending on the
wind and weather conditions. Call or visit www.kitesurfalaska.com for updated info.

It may sound cold but it isn't really too bad. I just got off the water in Homer using a 5/3 and didn't realize I left the gloves in the car until I was on the water. Hands stayed warm so glove season is officially over. By the end of may it'll be nice and warm and the wind will be cranking.

George and traveler put in a shit load of time and hard work into this event to promote kitesurfing in Alaska and grow the sport. I have the upmost respect for them and what they are doing. It is garunteed to be a good time for all who attend. Glad you guys are getting some wind and warmer water. Wish I could make it this year, I'm bummed :cry: :cry: :cry:
