Flysurfer news? Unity?

Postby dansheridan » Sat Dec 18, 2010 5:00 pm

Gunnar or anyone in the flysurfer close circle out there?
When's the unity coming?
what will it specialize in? waves? I hope, not big air or freestyle.
what sizes?
will it be a big Viron? because the Viron looks like it would be good for a wave kite if it came in bigger sizes.
Updates/news please.

Dan

No I am not fishing for the PMU shark today.
this one is serious, I want a wave kite foil that I can travel the world with.
I like both foils and tubes but a good foil that kicks ass in waves would be great.
I doesn't even have to jump, just go down the line, relaunch fast, soft on the bar pressure, fast turning, big time depower e.t.c. you know, a 100% dedicated wave foil would really be sweet.
I hate travelling with tubes, I always worry about weight and bladder holes and screwed up pumps e.t.c.
plus I have always liked foils anyway.

but I may get bit by the PMU shark before one of the flysurfer guys answers, we will see.
He lurks near by I can sense it. he has been sited a lot lately.

In case you've missed it. The Viron is covered beyond 3:00.
Apparently it's impossible to prevent it from relaunching!
Doesn't jump, but should be awesome for waves. Can't wait to get one.

Me too, I would love a wave foil. All the attributes of a good wave tube kite with no pumping would be really sweet. I believe that it would be probably more durable for waves crashing on it. Did you see how fast the viron hops off the water? Just make that kite bigger and I want one.
Travel the world low stress with a kite like that with a surfboard.
Make it in Felix cloth too and I could stuff a board and 2 kite setups into a double soma surf bag

Would not an Arc be the wave specific foil you guys are looking for?

http://www.peterlynnkiteboarding.com/charger.html

I owned a few and did not have a particularly high opinion of them. I have borrowed some demo kites and they were great.

There seems to be two big negatives.
1. They bring out a new model .... and then nothing ... for years.
2. Arcs seem to attract a very high proportion of enthusiastic kooks. Not all, but a lot. Your reputation as a cool kiteboarding dude will be tarnished by association.

arc turn faster than foil (and the P4) and pretty much as fast as SLE, and at least as fast in the small sizes
on the other hand , they have a C-shape behaviour which peeps have a lot of trouble to adapt to.

look at the peeps who just have troubles to go from bows to SLE or the reverse....so a C-shape....it's different

new model every 2years like flysurfer, usually

the charger is a bit too freestyle (wakestyle/newschool) oriented for me.....i feel like having a sort of Fuel (slingshot) and i lost the versatile feeling of PL kites....i need more input tho as the conditions were very gusty and it was my first flight with it (i had a synergy before)
the high end is still impressive, the low end is improved (kite can be worked like hell)

the Pl kites have a remaining pull due to the autozenith, dunno if u can ride the waves with zero traction remaining
PL kites are still the best drifting kite so far..they will flatten if needed to catch more wind instead of collapsing and falling (might be wierd to see that when u don t know it... :) )

the autozenith will allow the kite to stay in the air instead of finding it in the waves with the consequences. i guess, in waves, i d rather have a kite in the air than in the waves..

dunno if the remaining pull ( i d say 5-6kg) is a drawback or not.
