There is another alternative comming out, the Garmin 910XT. It is slimmer and less bulky and has more swimming functions¿?= Why cant they put a VMG function around a set course? the virtual partner is also incorporated and might be useful on a training course for lap comparisons. I am in the market for a new GPS as the 310xt I had fell off while kiting. They claim to have fixed this undersight on the new wrist band for the 910. I would buy it if it is confirmed.

Good winds....

What I would like to see in my future tool is:
- waterproof,
- small size,
- simple connectivity with any PC (cable? bluetooth? wireless?)
I usually kite alone. Wish to have a gizmo helping me to analize my lonely crossings.
There are plenty to chose from.
Avoid at all costs the gimmick Garmin 405, that must have been designed be freshly graduated engineers who wanted to make the iPhone of the wrist gps. It doens't work when wet, not even when you sweat.
I've had the Suunto X9 and X10. The rubber on the button peels off, and you can hardly see the display.
I wrote a blog on the topic in 2009; it needs a bit of updating however.

Cheerio,
I finally decided to get this device:

Reasons?
- very cheap (80GBP).
- simple navigation,
- independent unit,
- if damaged no regrets as you wrote about Suunto X9 or Garmin405.

I will let you know how does it work in reality. However I do not expect fireworks. I hope it would work two/three seasons...

I would like to buy one...................................

I make a quick search and Decathlon close their business in the USA in 2006. :nono:

Does any one know a dealer or a store that sale the Keymaze 500 in the USA?

It looks that they (Geonaute) make the same product with two names:

Geonaute Keymaze 500
Keymaze Quechua 500

Thanks

Manuel

I've been using my Garmin Forerunner 205 that I purchased for use while running. It's not really waterproof (semi-water-resistant?) so put it inside two plastic sandwhich bags and it's been working well for about 20 sessions. It gets a little wet sometimes, but still working great.

The software it comes with is horrible. The map of the coastline is off by 100 yards or so, so my maps always showed me as riding on the beach part of the time. This website is much better: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map_input

Can be purchased for less than $150 online

Recently i made an app. for my adnroid device because while using some garmin devices i always wanted to have more info than simply speed and datalogging. it's pretty much like pocket gpsar - you can see your speed , direction, vmg, angle to wind, polar graph, etc.etc. also there is simple navigation tool.
It's suitable for water use with some water resistant adnroid devices like moto defy and xperia active .
if someone actually using it - feel free to contact me and share your ideas and suggestions to make it more suitable for your needs. :)
