Women's level compared to men?

Postby Toby » Thu Aug 01, 2013 1:32 pm

taken from another topic to give it its own topic:

do women have such lower level than men in competitions?

On the Cauipe lagoon in Brazil I see the ladies doing awesome technical tricks, almost like the guys! Harder to do so in comps for sure, but I think in "Freestyle" they are relatively close.

What about wakestyle, like kicker and sliders?

For sure thre are world's between Airstyle men and women! Best Airstyle trick I know from ladies is a mega loop or Boardoff front 360/720. Never saw a girl doing a Jesus Walk?

Racing can be closer, no?

And also another huge gap in strapless surfboard freestyle.

Or are there ladies which we don't know?

Ther's a girl at my local spot ripping it on a surf strapless, but all the other girls are in the level of a first/second year male kiter.

How many girls are out there ripping on a wakeboard ?

Why aren't there any ladies doing amazing old school? you don't need a lot of muscle for that... just look at skinny Toby

Women don't have the muscle mass or the right hormones to push them to the same level as their male counterparts. Sure the women of the PKRA can ride better than most men in the world. Here is the thing most people in this sport are weekend warriors and twice the age of pro riders.

It's the same across all sports. The only exception I can think of is gymnastics but that has more to do with girls developing faster than boys and reaching maturity sooner. I have seen some girls at the middle school level of wrestling completely manhandle boys but once they go to high school it's a different story.

from my experience in such matters if you don't to sleep on the couch it's probably better to leave the speculation to yourself, and just ask the female riders themselves about it

I see quiet some girls with boots! Mostly those girls who hang out with the boots riders.

If there is a choice between two girls kitesurfing and two guys kitesurfing, I would ALWAYS prefer the girls. All in all the tricks kitesurfers do are pretty much the same. Girls probably do it less extreme, but what do I care if someones does a triple something or a double something. With girls in kitevideos there is 2 things to look at: Girls and kiting, in that order :D

And of course there are these....

A girl I used to ride with would constantly get advice on kite size from kiters at one of the local beaches since she was rigging "too big". She would usually just reply "oh ok", then smile and go rip it up...riding circles around them. Super funny.
On Oahu there are a few women riders that can more than hold their own again most of us (ie. rides better than us).

Watching the wave competitions...I think Langeree and our local talent Moona rides waves like there is no tomorrow. It is awesome to watch :-)

Well I fear no evil ;)
The standard is lower because they spend more time cooking and cleaning up after your lazy ass while you go kiting ;)

from the live streaming and short clips I´ve saw agree on Moona, think she´s on par with the top 5 guys. as a matter of fact for me she´s the only girl interesting to watch (waves) just due to her riding level, even if those super short bikinis could also help a bit :D

can´t really say the same about Langeree, although she seems to be a step further than all the other girsl

super sad the ksp didn´t went through as I believe Moona was planning to go full tour this year?

would be interesting to watch her in other spots than her usual 1

You want to watch her other spots rather than the usual. You are a sick puppy.
