Exactly!

If you cut off a good fin from the plug, you should see the full foil of the fin in the plug, not just a few millimeters.

Hi WjM, I had the same issue from the same manufacturer, fin or board never abused or grounded. It was my back fin that gave way and snapped in the same place as yours. I now ride ristas (that's not a plug, I think any quality fin wouldn't snap like this) and have no issue. IMO - they are way too stiff, with little or no tapering towards the tip which means that as you travel over chop the fin can't cope with the rapid unloading and loading that occurs, it's this shock loading that makes them snap, and of course coupled with the poor potting technique Btw I also went through two boards from them, one replaced under warranty with no issue and express delivered to my door. So keep an eye out for spongyness / delam under your footbeds where the heal sits and the rail beside it

Thank you for the offer Jade, I may take you up on that. The manufacturer has said they will replace it free of charge. I am awaiting delivery!. I have an idea that I am going to try first on a spare fin that I have. I have some stainless seizing wire that I am going to use to bind above and below the join between the fin and the tuttle insert. I am going to drill a couple of 2mm holes and literally sew the fin to the tuttle insert which will reduce flex and hopefully when it breaks again which it will, I will not loose the fin. To repair it I will route out the insert and pot it properly loosing all be it 25-30mm of fin length. While looking at the bottom of the board the fin I keep snapping is the Left fin. This is due to the prevaling wind here (SW) It snaps when I get on to the leeward rail which is obviously when there is most strain put on it. I hope to get an arrival date for the replacement fin and I can get back raceboarding soon.

Thanks for the offer and the intrest.

WjM.
