The La Ventana classic started yesterday with the long distance race from Cerralvo Island which is about 10 miles offshore back to La Ventana. Contestants take a boat ride over to the island early in the morning then we all start very close to the island with a boat start and then reach back across the bay to La Ventana. Winds were around 15 to 22 kts with kite sizes ranging from 9-12m for most riders. Tyson Poor (windsurf) won by a few feet over Johnny Heineken, with Brian Lake, Damien Leroy, Paolo Rista 4th, Julien Kerneur and Rob Douglas 5th and 6th, Adam Koch, Alex Aguera 8th. The top women was Erika Heineken. Jim Bison actually kited all the way across with a pair of water skis and did pretty well. The top eight kiters were all of race boards except for Damien who was on his slalom board. A few heats of Old School Big Air were done down at Baja Joes after the long distance race before the wind died out for the day. Today the winds are very light this morning and we are hoping for the usual afternoon winds to arrive. AA

Two more very lightwind races yesterday at the La Ventana Classic. This is what I think the results are after 3 races (CR) Adam Koch 1,1,1 Damien LeRoy 2,3,3 John Heineken 4,2,4 Julien Kerneur 3,?,? but I think finished all three races Bryan Lake DNF,5,2 Women Erika Heineken DNF,1,DNF Alexis Aguera DNF,2,DNF ? not sure which lady DNF,3,DNF I will try and find out Kalia Aguera DNF, 4, DNF Jessica Sickinger DNF, 5, DNF
One throwout after each 5 races
The three Races so far were all done with the biggest kite you have! 17m Ozones and 18m Cabrinhas were good choices. Damien wishes he had an 18m. Adam Koch in this lightwind is proving to be the fastest lightair sailor with three bullets with arguably the best five courseracers in the World here in attendance. This morning , Sunday is the last day and the wind is looking much better so maybe some more CR's and Big Air/ Old School freestyle

The results for top three in CR Adam Koch 1 Johnny Heineken 2 Bryan Lake 3 Women Erika Heineken 1 Alexis Aguera 2 Colleen Carroll 3 Winds were between 9-13m weather with the last race dying off to only two finishers I think with Johnny and Damien.
