Fin potting!

Greetings to all, I wanted to share an experiment on fin potting, it may be of some use to somebody. I recently snapped a fin on a raceboard and had a spare fin for the wrong side. I decided to remove the fin from the tuttle box insert and cut the fin to re pot it, basically converting a LHS fin into a RHS (right hand side) fin. The finished product is smaller but it means that while I waiting for the arrival of the replacement fin from the manufacturer I can still use my raceboard. I abraded the tuttle box insert to create the cant angle and used a clamp to ensure the propper rake angle. I cut the fin square to ensure close enough alignment. I will drill out the screw inserts and the brass retainers when the west system kicks off fully. I will insert two stainless 3mm pins to guarantee fin entrapment in the tuttle insert.

I hope the photos are more explanitary....

Enjoy....
