Underground Race Board 2012

It seems that Underground will be making a copy of a Mike Zajicek design from the 2011 World Championships ( where the MikesLab boards finished 1,2,3 )

It'll be interesting to see what price it is set at.

From the IKA board list the MikesLab registered 2012 board has slightly different dimensions.

I wonder about that volume spec - 210 liters. It means that in most places the board would need to be around 20cm thick. If I look at Mikes lab page ( http://mikeslab.com/kbL12.htm ) the board does not look that thick.

There seem to be obvious mistakes on the IKA list. eg. The 2012 North LTD 70cm board is listed as being much lighter than their 2012 60cm board.

Are the Mike's Lab boards only 168 cm long as this shows? That's 20 cm (8 inches) shorter than Naish and Cabrinha/Aquera boards.

If 168 cm works just fine then why have 188 cm boards that are heavier and harder to transport?

On a shorter board I would think it might be easier to pearl the board? Especially in super choppy conditions.

All other things being equal, I would tend to agree.
They do seem to ride vey well on the tail though and keep the nose clear, although it would probably need a video of them actually pushing the board in race conditions and chop to know for sure.

They look well in control here - although these may not be the same as the Underground model, but they sure look short.

Are you sure the number 168 is not a typo?
In the IKA approved boards list, it shows 186
