Hi,

Can anybody help me to find these straps, I live in Europe.
Or something similar.

Other question: how much influence has your own body weight? Are you gonna go faster or more upwind weighing less and on the same equipment?

Third and final question: having fins with less rake (more upright) then what I have now, will this allow me to choose smaller fins and still have the same upwind and better top end speed?

Any info is welcome

re: fins - talk to Paolo at www.ristafins.com.

He will be able to set you up with the right size for you and your board. He will probably know how it will relate to your current fins too.

Try to make your own footstraps! Get a piece of seatbelt material cut it to size and use a lighter to solder the cuts and stop fraying, use a soldering iron to make a couple of holes, spray contact glue on the strap and, on an off cut of 2-3mm neoprene and wrap, leave the ends of the belt with the holes exposed and Voila! instant lightweight indestructable cheap race board strap! if it lacks in rigidity after a few soakings in salt water it will harden up, if you cant wait double up on the seatbealt strap and that will do. I got a seat belt from a scrap yard for a fiver! If you know someone with a sewing machine you can throw the house out of the window and make a deluxe model.....

question 1 answer is they are NSI straps
Answer 2 Bryan Lake. He has got 50 lbs on Johnny and uses the same board he just goes bigger in kite size.
Answer 3 That is the question I have a too. But have to go downwind as well.

I had thought of that too, but I think the production ones would be better unless you really needed to flatten the strap to get into another strap.
I have sealed and hardened polypropylene webbing so I could screw the ends of the strap down and also shaped the webbing by heating it with a lighter. To make the holes, I cut holes then pushed a small screwdiver through the hole and heated it with the lighter to form a solid edge to the holes. You would need to heat the strap where it turned up from the board to make it stand up enough to get your foot in. I did find it a bit sticky to get your foot in and out of so I think it would need something round it or under it to reduce the sticking.

60mm would be about right, but I dont know if this is polypropylene.

For the fin question: I now have three 42cm fins,rake 8, to have more upwind i'm thinking of getting two 44cm (rake 2 !!) and one 40cm, rake 8. North ltd 69 board, a little afraid of getting too much lift. Anyone any thoughts?

No problem.
44cm seem big. In SF most guys are using 42 up front and 39 on the back. ( I went 1cm bigger)
2.5 to 4.5 cant on the front.
rake I am not sure. But it think the more you pull them back the better downwind but not upwind.

I let the Johnny, Chip, Burrie and Adam do all the testing and have them pick out what will work for me
