Hello Guys,
I read something that could be very interesting!
I,m kiteracing for almost 2 years now.
Using my 16 dyno (north) and my aguera cr le 69 in natal brasil from 7 knts..
I think it would be interesting do get an evolution from the kitebrands.
Would a helium 20mtr kite work under the 7 kns !?!?!??
Using the speed of the kite i think i would be possible!!
Wouldend it be amazing! racing on flat water whitout wind using a helium kite?
We could go olympic 100%!
cheers from natal-brazil.

Discussions about using helium for light air go way back. Definitely before 2006.
Helium is expensive and due to the modest volume in the LE and struts it would not reduce the weight by much. Some one already did the math.
Perhaps if you had a special twinskin where basically the whole kite inflated then you might have a kite/helium-balloon.

...the weirdest thing is that it is still cheap compared to how little helium there is left in the world.

ok so the maths don't stack up for leis. what about a fully sealed helium flysurfer?.... the internal volume of a FS would be considerably more than inflatable... may even be enough to make a flysurfer balloon? ....
stupid expensive though!!.,. lets go for hydrogen and go out with a bang!

I think one problem with hydrogen is that the molecules are so small that its very difficult to keep them in the bladder and you need special bladder material.
