Bar with single line safety & above bar trim?

Hi Folks,

looking for a bar for my girlfriend.
it need to have above the bar trim (preferable with strap) and a single line safety system that swivels.
is there anything on the market?
i really appreciate it!

I'm not sure what you mean by "single line safety". (i.e. does you mean mini-5th line, or "oh-shit" style leash?)

The new Core Sensor bar has mini-5th and a really nice swivel on the chicken loop that untwists the lines when you pull it all the way down. Works a treat! The depower is a cleat system above the bar. In the past I had not been a big fan of cleat systems but in this setup it works really nice and is SUPER easy to adjust (much easier and smoother than any strap & bucckle style I've used) because there is effectively a 4:1 cascade working via the mini-5th/depower setup.

Another feature that is different is the quick release, which is a "twist" mechanism. Some people have seemed reluctant to try this because it is "different...but I've used it, tested it, and taught with it - and it works great.

There was a video posted back in the fall of 2011 that showed a problem with the release, but Core did an immediate recall/re-engineering and revised a part that was causing some sticking with sand. I've tested it with sand and it works fine. That said, as with any QR it's good to test release before each session and keep it free of sand and rinsed after a session.

Also, the bar is really LIGHT! Just yesterday I had a kite set up with my 2010 Core ESP bar and one with the 2012 Sensor bar...the weight difference is very noticeable. Overall it's a nice clean and simple arrangement with very high quality components.

what i mean is that the kite releases on one single frontline.
mini 5th usually connects to 2 powerlines or are there other systems?
problem with mini 5th on a SLE kite is the kite doesn't flag out.
the slingshot bar is pretty good beside the below the bar trim.
so i was wondering if there is something else.
cleat is no problem as long it is above the bar!

...or Ozone. Nice and light, strong, 800# front lines, swivels below bar, smooth covered depower rope, flags to one front line. Uses a cleat above bar. Grip is comfortable too....

OK, that clears it up.

Yes the stock Core bar does not have a "flag" line. I actually retrofitted my ESP bar to have an outside flag line, and I may do the same on my new Core Sensor bar. It's a little bit of work to do so, but for me worth it because I like other aspects of the bar so much.

The new BEST RP bars are pretty nice and have OSR on both ends. I'd probably list that as my personal choice after the Core Sensor and Core ESP.

It's interesteing how many bars no longer have the "flag" option. I wish this was not the case

I reluctant to put 100% faith in the min-fifth for a variety of reason, so I'm "with you" on that one. Some people will say that it's dangerous to "flag" an SLE because it will spin and kiteloop, but I feel that the kite will be on the ground/water fairly soon and stop pulling, whereas the mini-fifths can continue to load up. In either case I think it's important to test before your rely on it in an emergecy, especially for your girlfriend. Every kite will behave a little differently with the "flag" line.

delta shaped kites flag out pretty good on mini 5th but SLE's don't.
it's crazy when bars don't have the rear line flag out option just in case!

even if the kite spins, it will have almost no power though. when I was learning I had my flag out line stick, and even with a tiny bit of tension on the other lines the kite just made slow little powerless loops to the ground. kites are so safe these days it shouldn't really be a concern...
