Yes, it is true.alohasurfer73 wrote:Is it true what they say, that you need to add one square meter on a c-kite to get the same power as a bridled one? I mean for example if I have the 10 meter Park, and I want the same power and low end in a Torch, then do I need to buy the 11 meter Torch?
And also, can I hold a Torch 11 in as strong wind as I can hold a Park 10? I can hold the Park 10 in about 28-30 knots, then I change to the 8.
probably the 11 torch... if you are overpowered on an 11 you should easily be able to ride an 8alohasurfer73 wrote:Hmm.. I now have the 8, 10 and 14 Park and was thinking of changing my 10 to a Torch with similar "power" to sit in my quiver instead of it. So which size c-kite should I pick if I wanna keep my Park 14 and 8?
What I'm after is better unhooked riding, more pop and more slack in the lines.

Hm I don't fully agree with this statement. It is true that you can depower a SLE kite more and therefore the high end should be better, but when you depower most SLE kites they flutter, are unresponsive and don't feel comfortable riding.Peter_Frank wrote: But you can also hold the SLE kite in more wind than the C kite, because it has way more depower - it can change its AOA more.
Well you can't rely on depower as much as on SLE kites. You have to feel the kite to generate power. SLE kite will "forgive" you when you sine it too much or not enough, as you can always pull or release the bar to tune the power to your needs. With a C kite you when you turn the kite too much, it will rip you off your edge. When you don't turn it enough, you'll sink. You'll also find that you sine your kite more often, even if powered up.alohasurfer73 wrote:In what way do you ride/fly a c-kite differently? If it's possible to describe it in words here?
That's exactly what I mean by sining.alohasurfer73 wrote:Thanks Jedi1!
Hmm... I love the Park 2012, but I've been kiting for 6 years and just wanna take it to the next level, if you know what I mean. I've come more and more into doing unhooked tricks lately. I actually don't know if the Torch is better for me, to be honest. It just feels like the natural next step.
What do you mean when you say "sine"? Working the kite up and down?
