I am new to the sport with some lessons down my sleeve. Looking for someone in the area to go kiteboarding with. There are some cool areas around Syracuse /finger lakes area that are quite windy that we could explore.
Great forum guys. Keep up the good work. Wish you all tight lines and big waves.

North end of Seneca lake has some kiteboarder activity.
Look there for kite buddies.

I have kited Oneida lake at sylvan beach. It has a nice shallow shore that goes a couple hundred feet that is good for beginners like me. But lake Ontario at Oswego has some great winds that I would love to kite.
I will definitely check out Seneca lake. Thanks.

Did you mean south end of Seneca lake/Stewart park Ithaca? I have seen Kiteboarders in that area. It is a bit of a drive but would be worthwhile if I could meet some fellow boarders.

I have been in Austin since 1996, but I am from Rochester.
I was up there for my father's 90th birthday, a couple weeks ago, and we got to talking about kiteboarding, and my brother in law who is a longtime sailboat racer, said there was some kiteboarders on Seneca Lake regularly. I thought he said the north end, but I could be wrong.
