Hi, racers.
I want to buy a ligthwind board, for choppy and flat water .Now I have the chance to buy a RRD K-race 50 and a CABRINHA 183.....both for a very good price and both are in a amazing condition. I had the oportunity to test the RRD for two days, on ligth wind and strong wind and I had the feeling about that board performs welll in ligthwinds, but. maybe is asking to go in stronger winds.
I think is a matter of volume and buoyancy...
The cabrinha is in a shop, and I can not test it. I don' t know what to do...both are well finished, 4 fins and a very good price...My weigth is 83 kgs and my ligthwind kite is a Cabrinha Nomad 2010 13 m2..
Thanks on advance

I've been riding the Cabrinha 183 for a year and really like it. Picked up some used Rista fins and now it's even better. Others have said the Cabrinha 183 is horrible, but its supposed to be a copy of the Aguera CR59 from that year, so should be pretty good.

I haven't ridden any other raceboards, but I'd say the Cabrinha is closer to the modern boards at 59cm wide, versus the 50cm wide RRD board. Looks like the Cabrinha is 2011 and the RRD is 2010? There was a lot of development in raceboards between 2010 and 2011.

Don't know which one would be better in chop. I definitely wouldn't say my Cabrinha 183 is good for chop, but it's really for riding in light wind. I ride it from about 8 knots to 15 knots, then break out the twin tip. If you had a race and you had to ride it in 20 knots you could, but it's not much fun.

How good of a deal is it? Cabrinha has been selling all of their leftover new 183 boards on ebay in the US for around $450-$500 plus shipping.

davesails7...
cabrinha 183 2011, amazing condition... 495 euros.
rrd k race 50 2010 amazing condition......350 euros..

But I don´t want to race like a pro, I just want to have fun, like a more serious freeride boards, not a real updated raceboard...

There was a Sector V2 used for sale in the UK for about that price I think (sorry not that up on exchange). I picked mine up recently and just had it out - now I am just not that good of a kiter, but watched a local guy take it out first time and light it up!!

Also what I see is the cabrinha is pretty heavy if you compare it to the rrd.
How much should weigth? Maybe is the cabrinha damaged or they forgot to close the valve before to go to the water?

Perhaps it has some water in it, but Cab made two types of the same board. One was lighter carbon version. This is probably the cheaper one. Lighter boards are more fun, just that 50 cm is little on a narrow side. Otherwise I'd go with RRD for freeriding.
