The Truth about Kiteboard Racing

In the past few weeks you have been virtually "bombarded" by the RSX lobby group with false accusations, defaming papers and inaccurate information that only repeated the same mantra over and over again: "Kiteracing is not ready, kiteracing is dangerous, kiteracing is the evil..."

While all this paperwork presented to you is largely based on hearsay and statements from people with a very vested interest in the return of windsurfing, we would like to share this video with you - because seeing is believing.

Witness with your own eyes and ears, and don't let yourself get dragged into misinformation strategy of the RSX lobby group.

See how exciting and appealing kite racing is, hear from sailors what they think about format and equipment, get first hand information from already "converted" RS:X sailors like Dorian van Rijsselberghe, Zac Plavsic, and Race Officers like St. Francis' Director of Race Operations, Robbie Dean.

They need to live cast this meeting. :D

IKA kiteboarding - "no more dangerous than any other sport" , "safety issues slightly different to sailing", "launch kites in 3-4 knots,up and planing in 4-5 knots" "no additional resources or facilities are needed" (compared to a sailing regatta)

RSX, " Decapitation risk by wires, you stole my government funded livelihood, it costs $60 to drop my rsx kit off down the refuse station, we got 200 youth you got 6, you duped the voters with your lies, where was the due diligence "

The star and fin classes sipping a nice gin and tonic (or a cup of tea) and wiping their brow in relief at the whole situation.

ISAF sitting uncomfortably, slightly overwhelmed - just who do they believe? It's hard when another sport is reinvented as sailing after 20 years of pioneers and development as power kite sport for traction.. but you know kite down is now in the rulebook a capsize, a kite pilot is now a helmsman, should all be very simple then. Oh but wait we will add in that waveriding and freestyle are also now sailing classes in the 2013 ISAF rule book. We will try and find out about them later. We will call a meeting and you guys can just tell us everything we need to know!

The IOC preaching youth and affordability but causing the 2 most potentially affordable olympic wind sports to fight against each other due to medal limitations.

Then after all that depending on outcome, olympic kiteboarding turns into RSX anyway in some ways and the wind averages 6 knots in Brazil - it's all on, 100kg+ riders winning on formula raceboards in light winds, a day of over 25knot average sitting on the beach as there is no racing allowed. 3 kite quiver for the whole year.

Interesting times for kiteboarding,, eeerrrr, I mean sailing!
:o
