Back to Back Asian stops start next week

The PKRA will be returning to China next week for the second year in a row with a new event in Pingtan with 80,000$ in prize money and another event on the tropical Island of Hainan in the Chinese South Sea. With three freestyle events left in the season the Spaniards Alex Pastor and Gisela Pulido are in the lead. Bryan Lake and Christine Boenniger are in the lead for slalom. Injuries to Youri Zoon and Bruna Kajiya in Germany have made the road a little easier for the top contenders, but both are recovering well and should be back on the water shortly. These two events in Asia show how kitesurfing is expending throughout the world and is truly a global sport. The Island of Pingtan located on the east coast of China in the Taiwan Strait is notorious for strong winds and extreme conditions and will be a great play ground for the top PKRA riders.

All the PKRA rider have had a few weeks off since Fuerteventura and Turkey and have all taken the opportunity to train around the world in Brazil, Tarifa, Egypt, France and many more locations. We have been following the videos of the top men and women training and the level just seems to get better. We will see if guys like Sefan, Liam, Tack and some of the other top ten riders can get their first PKRA win of their career or will Pastor and Jacobs keep dominating the tour.

Gisela Pulido solidified her lead with Karolina and Bruna not competing in Fuerteventura, we will see if Karolina can close the gap with Gisela or will she extend her points lead. Annabel Van Westerop and Paula Novotna are also becoming strong contenders and they might be able to pull an upset and dethrone the world champions.

The Slalom racing is more and more exciting with guys going faster and faster around the course. Bryan Lake and Christine Boenniger are the top riders to beat. Kerneur and Smith are close but seem unable to match Bryan’s top speed. If Bryan wins this event he will be well into the lead close to becoming the Slalom World Champion having won all three events he entered.

Sweeeet, let them not hold freestyle heats in ridiculously low winds to get it done in China - need legit winners.
