I want to improve my VMG when racing and i clearly need some work with pointing higher.

Any tips??

I've been trying to lean back front leg straight and push with back leg but is there anything more i could do. Hike out more? lean back?

Cheers :thumb:

Depowering your kite will make it fly further forward in the window so you can head higher upwind. A race bar helps with this by letting you keep your correct body position while trimming the kite with the depower strap instead of moving the bar. High aspect ratio, race-style kites are better at this and will fly further forward in the window as you depower them.

I am not a kite racer but I used to race sailboats. Remember Velocity Made Good is not about pointing as high as possible, its about getting upwind the fastest way possible. Point to high and you will be slow, bear off a little and more speed is possible. Knowing when is the challenge. I used to have a computer simulator for sailing that really helped me see the difference.

Lots of factors.
- Fins in right size and cant according to your weight, board and wind you are sailing in.
- Footstrap position. Both forward backward but also how close to the edge
- Body position. Straight legt and lock your hips
- Harness. A sliding hook can help as well
- Know how to put the pressure through chops
- Foot position. Ancle your back heel forward
- Time on water and prefered with a training partner
- Partisipate in events. You learn so much even you dont win.
