Application of Advertising on Kites
The IKA identified that as a result of the change from "open class rules" to "closed class rules" format a simple transformation error occurred. Due to this error kites with sewn on advertising would have been technically illegal in events where the Notice of Race published has been published after January 1st 2014.
An urgent request for a rule change has been approved by ISAF to correct this problem. Advertisement may now be applied in any way in accordance with regulation 20 (The ISAF Advertising Code). A brief thanks to the individuals who helped to identify this issue and to those who helped to solve the problem.
Future restrictions to materials and methods used to apply advertising will be identified to prevent possible performance enhancing forms of application. Submissions on this matter will be made to the next Annual General Meeting.
