Kite racing in the UK

Postby bouclette » Tue Apr 29, 2014 9:55 am

Hi everybody,

I'm moving up to the UK in a month time and was trying to find out if there is an active fleet up there.

I'll be in the Southampton / Portsmouth area.

Is there any club racing going on in this area?

Cheers,

Ben

Hi,

I believe around the Calshot area there is quite a bit of casual racing. They have some nice conditions from what I understand.

We have a very casual race board scene here in Essex and only do a little bit of racing but mainly on TT

Hope that helps a little

Tony

Thanks Tony,

I'll keep searching for a group of racers in this area.

Hopefully there is something more than just TT racing around! There is so much dinghy and yacht racing going on in the UK that I can't believe there is no active fleet around there.

Ben

Hi Ben
no real fleets and just a few of us that race. There was a bit of racing at Calshot mostly on sectors but not eard much this year?
I can't really believe it either and have been trying for years to get stuff going but to no avail. Those of us that do race a lot are a bit spread out, theres the Bridges in Exmouth or myself in Penzance with only a couple others dotted around. If you wanna come train then give us a shout and come join in, be great for me down here or if you fancy trying to keep up with Ollie they are out every day in Exmouth.
You should definitely come to the nationals at the Edge Cup, will be a great 3 days with good prize money and we really need more numbers.
Hope to see you on the water sometime soon
cheers
lee

Hey Rob! Thanks for the dates. They are duly noted and I'll be at the nationals in June.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the infos. Do you guys have some training week ends together or just train on your side and only meet at the regattas? For sure I'd be happy to spend a few week ends in your area for training.

We'll talk more about it at the nationals.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Guys,

I've missed the nationals due to injury but am now back on the water.

I see there is an event in Gosport next weekend but haven't managed to get any info about it. I've contacted the BKSA but they redirected me to the event organizer that hasn't replied to me.

Anyone going there? Has it been cancelled?

Ben
