Latest event update from Markus Schwendtner:

hello everybody, we are still finalising contracts for the championships this year, provisional it is 17th june europeans in turkey and between 8 and 19th july in gizzeria for the worlds. Southamericans or all americans in october/november in brasil. Asian we are working on together with KTA, might be Vietnam or Taiwan. Africans - no info yet from the egypt sailing federation and we are looking for something in oceania - cook islands sound nice but a long way to go... promised, as soon as anything is confirmed I will post it here, but it extremely difficult this year to get things signed.

Hey bacon,
Here is where Nitinat/Nitinaht Lake is: https://www.google.ca/maps/dir//48.8049 ... 676498,16z
It is not that simple to get to. From Vancouver, Canada you need to take a 1.5 hour ferry, drive about 1 hour on a paved road, and then drive about 1 hour on a dirt logging road.

It is a great place to kiteboard - very steady winds typically between 20-25 knots and a really beautiful setting - but it is not a great place to hold a race event. It is difficult to get to and it is way too crowded for racing. I did the race there last year and we had to constantly avoid the free-riding kiters, the kiteboard lessons, the twintip race, and the windsurfers while trying to race.

Here is the event website if you decide to go: http://windfest.ca/
And, good luck!

Stan

Praia de sao marcos is a beach in Sao Luis, capital of the Maranhao state in Brazil, mostly frequented by the surfing crowd.
