We return to sun-kissed Los Barriles and its unspoiled white sand beaches, bordering the azure blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Los Barriles beach was again buzzing with an indescribable energy and anticipation, as riders got their equipment ready on the beach and their minds in the groove for the racing ahead.

The pressure was on and so was the breeze. This unique spot is blessed with freakishly good winds, delivering challenging kiting for riders and a thrilling spectacle for fans.

The IKA North American Kite Foil Championship is well underway and all riders put on an amazing performance to establish themselves on the leaderboard ladder. Joey Pasquali was again on fire, starting day 2 of racing in explosive manner, chased by a fleet all hot on his heels. Local Baja boy, Adam Withington, gave it all to keep well within touching distance of the medals, knocking out a steady performance – which is always the key to success. But - with a lot of races ahead, pacing yourself is equally critical.

Today the Freestyle competition got underway. There was no let up in form, with impressive heats during this first round of the event. It was an extremely tough encounter as riders matched each other trick for trick. Each rider aims to out-trick their opponent – so they counter attack again and again, raising each other’s game trick by trick.

The action never stops!! Racing is perfectly complimented by a myriad of shoreside social activities, superb food and live music. A superb showcase of Mexican hospitality!
