Suggestion for improvement to forum

Postby MissionMan » Sun Jan 13, 2008 8:54 pm

Hi Toby

New forum looks great you have the next page of each thread set at the top. It means every time you get to the bottom of a page, you have to scroll back to the top to go to the next page if there is more than one page to the thread. Anyway you can add one to the bottom?

How about some sliding panels...keep the ads (of course), but have people choose if they see the status bar, the pics of the day etc. You can for instance use spray super easy to implement in CSS and JavaScripts...would display more forum and ads, and less of things that we don't need every day...I'd also consider dropping the CSS border IMO.

Otherwise looks good. Great effort. Looks cleaner. :-)

Shouldnt this thread be a "sticky" Toby ?

My first discovery was the font size - it is simply HUGE, and you feel like you are on a retirement home with "read easy" letters

At first I thought something was wrong with my PC :o

Fortunately many has IE 7 now, where you can easily downscale to 70 or 80 or 90%, where the font size is more "natural" and pleasant for most screen sizes I think. But not as good a font as if it were 100% in the "correct" size IMO.

But then the icons/smileys get very bad, when that small, and distance smileys/font get really odd looking :(

I assume this is just an initial error, and not deliberately, so should be corrected soon ?

Kindly, Peter Frank

Re: font size
Yes, it is a bit large, even on my 1600x1200 pixel display.
Looks right at 1600x1200 on a 15inch laptop display,
but "big" at 1600x1200 on 21inch display, and HUGE on big display at lower resolution.
So far so good with the new version, I've only scratched the surface. :thumb:

2d thought, everything looks too big, fonts don't seem to scale as well or look sharp as they ought to. Sorry, had to say it.

by "will" you mean in the future ?
I do not see a button yet.

The RSS feed will be a huge improvement for the forum.
