Lamu, Kenya

Hi

Might be there around the end of March. Apparently you can windsurf there so assume kitesurf would be OK in theory.

Has anyone been? Any particular island to head for?

Nothing on kitebeaches, very little on google.

Advice appreciated.

Cheers
Paul.

Hey,
i know you left this a while back - but a friend just pointed it out to me.
Where in Lamu did you head?
Other places to kite down that coast are cheshale http://www.kenyakite.com/Kenya%20Site/K ... Kenya.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Run by the pioneer of kenya kiting himself - Justin. I am a local islander, live in lamu, my parents rent and sell houses there, right on beach front - 2 steps away from launcing your kite! and can say first hand it is AWESOME for kiting... wat did you think? you want to pick the right time of year, but there is always a couple of good days every several even in the low season. xmas/new year and july/august are perfect! Hope you enjoyed! Karibu Lamu!

haha! Sorry i thought you'd already been! (im not sure if this got to you so im posting it - im a new user! Can you tell : )!!
What is your budget... just so i hav an idea then of where to recommend. Of course If it were me I would stay http://www.shelahouse.com/index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in one of these. Garden house is chep when shared between friends. However if its a much lower budget and you want to just chill and kite Cheshale is great. I sent you link for that - have a look. However its nothing compared to Lamu. Shela is the village on Lamu isalnd where you would most likely be staying. An these are some of the best/most comfortable ones there. I live in Kipungani - which es even better then shela - its round the other side of the island, really few people so beach to yourself and its heaven. http://www.kizingonibeach.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; For a holiday of a life time. Who are your friends - i will probably know them. Such a small world out there! As far as boards go - shouldnt be a problem to put them on plane - i do it every holdiay - its worth getting a bag that you can put everything in and wheel along as looks less hassle to the air staff (i just stuff my clothes and bits in the bag too - they are huge. Otherwise I know you can borrow a board if you stay at shela house/ kipungani as i would personally see to it that you have use of one. Otherwise you can rent them at cheshale
