Vegas 08 windrange - trying to choose kites

Postby Bvok » Wed Feb 27, 2008 1:00 am

Hi all

I am trying to decide between 7m, 9m and 12m or 9m, 12m and 14m as my 08 Vegas quiver. I weigh 85Kg and ride a 130x39 board and like to ride powered up. Everyone keeps telling me the 12 is as big as I need but is that really true do you think? Also, in the above quiver do you think that the 12m and 14m would be too close?

Has anyone out there got the 14m Vegas? Is it much slower than the 12m? Has anyone out there got a 7, 10 and 14 quiver?

Any help or advise would be appreciated as I'm pretty damn confused and can't demo.

Thanks!

7 10 14 is a good quiver if you're only going to have 3 kites.
If you were going for 4 kites for instance (I ride torchs) I ride 6 9 12 14

But yeah get the 7- 14 quiver that would work really well for you

Hi!
I am same weight as you(85KG, 190 cm). Riding mostly with Vegases from 2004:).
This year I have 14,12,09 Vegas and 7 Rebel for waves.
I am realy happy with new 14 cos it is first big kite wich loops un jumps us I like. Before 14V, I was able to do good H-pases and loops etc only with smaller sizes.
I like it sooooooo much. last year I demoed a lot of different kites in bigger sizes and none performs that well for me like V08 14. It jumps high, loops fast and with power(much beter than other kites in big sizes), goes upwind like hell and feels realy realy good. 14 and 10 will bee OK. But 7m2......I never liked V in smaller sizes than 9. Thats why I choosed Rebel, I still can unhook and it feels more stable in high winds.
14 is not much slower than 12 but with more power. there is a big difference between them in small winds.
If I wasnt planing to waveride I would choose 14,12 and 9.
If yes than 14,10 and 7Rebel or 14,12,9 and 7R.
I am on 141x41 TT and couple of wave boards.

some pictures from last trip in light wind with 14V:
Actualy 14vegas saved that trip from complete disaster.

Thanks Drande

I'm now thinking that the 9 is the smallest size I need because I can hold a lot of power and I also have access to a 7m hybrid/bow for silly high gusty winds. Logic follows that it 9 is my smallest size I will need a 12 also. So, if I have a 9 and 12 the question is now will that be enough or will I need the 14 as well for the lighter days (total quiver 14, 12, 9). In an ideal world I guess yes the 14m would be nice to have but I suppose I must decide for myself if it is worth the extra $$. These kites are not cheap!

Thanks for your advice Drande, I feel a bit further towards my decision now that I have discounted the 7m.

Yes, that rebel 7 mostly is in hands of my girl. I dont know about 12 as bigest size, it might be quite personal. For me 100% "no" but maybe someone in same weight will say "yes, but with big board".
Better find something else where to save money and by 3 kites if you kite a lot :D

I ride Vegas 08 7-10-14 and my weight is 90kg +, if I could redo my choice i would do 7-9-12 or 7-10-12 because I love my 10m2 and it has a huge wind-range and the 7m2 is close to be just as good as my 10m2.

no idea how they ride but then take 9 + 12 and see if you need a 14m later?

So at 90Kg+ you don't think you need the 14m? I am surprised by that!
