Nordic Masters in Sweden

Alternative solution

The wind never showed up, but the event-organizers came up with a new twist in the Nordic Masters.

Since the competition area was already packed with kickers, rails and boxes Kristjan Sigurdason and Eirik Fernholm decided to pull the competitors thru the stopestyle course with a scooter hanging after a rope. The riders displayed a surprisingly good entertainment in the swedish mountainsun. Talents like Claes Lundin, Petter Johnsen, Sigve Botnen, Kevin Steen and Andreas Toverud had good use of their, board and skiing-experience and proved that kiters have abnormal crossover talent within different sports.

The American Kevin Steen was voted by the other riders to take home the price for Nordic Master. Kevin is a fresh blood in the skiing-scene of snowkiting, and had the heaviest gangster-style of them all, riding on his superfat K2 hellbent as his Ipod was pumping some inspiring tunes in his ears. The experience snowboarder and kiter Claes Lundin deserved his diploma for Master of Style when he mocked in an off axis 360 over the first box, styled the whole c-box and stomped the last rail. Still, it was Andreas Toverud (18) form Norway who will be remembered from Högfjellet in Sälen. He made the public gasp as he started up with a massive backflip form the kicker, landing on the flat. The courageous viking continued to do rodeo-flips as he was still hanging on to the rope. The highlight was when he attempted a railey over the kicker, flying 5 meters up in the air, feet straight up, but he had to let go and crashed but still Andreas was awarded with the price Master of Trick.
