I am thinking of living in Charleston for the Month of September and was wonder how the kiting was that time of year. Also as far as living is Folly the best bet? Does anyone know of or have places to rent

Most people kite on the other side of the harbor, Isle of Palms or Sullivan's.
Or a nice long downwinder from one to the other.
Folly has a lot of surfers. Sure it would be nice for kiting sometimes, but I have never been out there. Had fun windsurfing at the washout, side-off conditions sometimes, back in the day.
A lot of times I think Folly gets too offshore, but I am only a "tourist..."
Wind? maybe good, maybe not.
Best situation would probably be if you get a few tropical storms going by a few 100 miles out. Worst would be if you get a big hurricane.
Charleston can be fun.
If you are going purely for sport rather than for the company, though, NC is better.

september is always different as it is a transition time for weather and tends to be very frontal. expect a wide variety of weather patterns and pray for offshore storms for the epic days.

well I dont ride on the other side (sullivans) i a do go to folly when ever it blows. today for instance im about to go we have 19-21 sideshore with overhead waves. in my opinion the best kiting is at folly simply because we have the best waves around.(sssshhhh dont tell!!)
