Locked Key in Car... No Problem Call Felix Pivec

Postby TopHat » Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:18 am

:o A strange thing happened when I came in from kiting today. :duh:
Talk about a new way to open the van door. :jump:
Here is the scoop from Jeff Pfeffer.

So for todays episode, my kite is flying like shit and folding in the
30+ gusts and I break a fin so I go in. Felix comes in and offers to
let me use his extra kite and goes to hats van to get it out. Only he
is flying his kite while he is digging around in the van. One side
line hooks on the edge of the door and kite starts falling so Felix
unhooks as it starts to loop in a mega gust. The kite does about 6
death spirals and then rips the door off the van and flings it ten
feet in the air. Kite lands safely about 200 yards away. Only damage
is the kite bar splitting felix face open a bit and the door cracking
his shin bone and leaving a nasty lump. He would have died if he had a
donkey dick and didn't unhook really fast. Of course rummaging in the
back of a van while flying a kite is not always the best idea. Just
another day at the office.

Infinitely more dull way of getting back into your car if you've locked them in, or they've got water in them ...

get 'er in doors' on the phone - put said phone next to the lock, and get her to press unlock on the set of keys at home - Hey presto - one unlocked car. Personally Ive never tried it but I am assured it nearly always works.

It would have saved me an epic 400 mile retrieve if I had known at the time

Urban legend maybe....A mobilephone compress and remove information just like a MP3 music file to limit the data necessary for the voice to sound good enough. So kinda doubt it is true. And a mobilephone limits the frequency range to only the audible part.

Yeah! Test it at home..... just go in your house with your remote key, and get your son to go stand by your car in the front of the house with a cell phone. Call his cell phone and have him hold it next to the left front tire. Then press the key fob, and it will unlock the car!! Then, have him try it when holding his cell phone under water in a bucket. It will still work! Then have him turn off his cell phone, and it WILL STILL WORK!! Finally, have him stomp on his cell phone and break it into little pieces and it WILL STILL WORK!! IT'S AMAZING! It's called radio! But, don't park the car down the block or it may not work.... You generally need to be within 20m for it to work. Some can go as far as 300ft.

I doubt that this would work. To the best of my knowledge, digital carrier cell phones only sample the audible frequencies to encode, and they compress this which would most likely mess up the encryption by not transmitting all of the signal. Not sure about older analog cell phones.

We're such kooks,!!!

Seriously, just another day is right.

I've done this too, except I was changing boards and had my 16m up while I tried to fish my other board out of my pick up, yup, I finally crawled in...

I did hurry though...

My bud does this all the time....

we're kooks day in, and day out

just a normal day...
