I recently purchased a new bar and lines from Best. I am writing because I am more than disappointed with the quality of what they have released on the market. The lines are garbage, after 10 or more sessions the coating wears off and they become extremely soft and tangle more often/easily. I have been kiting over 4 years, and when doing tricks, if the lines self loop and tighten on themselves you cannot undo the knot.
What ticks me off is that if Best had flown the kite lines for more than 10 sessions they would have realized this issue and corrected it or not released it to the public. Additionally, the lack of an "hourglass" shape of the stainless steel insert also add friction to the bar movement, which if you look at a Naish bar they have designed it properly.
I have always bought Best without hesitation on the recommendation of my dealer. I will no longer do this as I have found to many times that Best does not do there homeowrk and product test their merchandise well enough, and always leaves me hanging with the problem.
I just am sick and tired of hype in this sport, and have learned my lesson.
For whatever it's worth I believe all companies have production problems and/or defective items at times.
I also bought an '08 Best bar and lines recently. After just a few sessions the lines were fraying at numerous areas just adjacent the to sleave stitching. I contacted the online store and sent pictures but they never responded even though I was well within the warranty period.
I sent copies to Best customer service and almost without hesitating they sent me all new lines.

Dude - what kind of trick do you tangle your lines in a self knot? This is a new one I gotta see. Are you sure you don't mean you rigged without checking to be sure your lines aren't tangled?
