question about rev 13m.

Postby VICTOR-Cs » Wed Aug 27, 2008 5:13 pm

I would like to know what the people think about the slingshot rev, who has tryed the kite, of course...
1º-it's a kite too big for to make tricks??, I mean... it's a kite just for have a walk??
2º-it's fast/slow??,
3º-it has a good performance in kiteloops?, or on the contrary, it's a good size for that??
4º- the bar has mini hook??... Someone knows if the '09 bar has the mini hook??
5º- We can say that the rebel is its homonymous?

Another thing, Someone knows the rev '09 sizes??
If somebody has info of rev '09, can answer the questions in base of her. If don't, in base to rev '08.

THX!

I've been using the 13m Rev quite a bit recently.
I think it's a really good kite.
It's a powerful kite with a great bottom end
but still flies and turns very fast for a 13m kite.
It's quite grunty and still generates a lot of power
at lower speeds, to get good top end you need to edge
hard and keep kite under control.
Turns quick, drifts well, no tendancy to back stall
I'm 90 kg and use it with a 9m
Windrange for me is 12 -22 knots
If your a lot lighter than me than the 11m might be a better option.

No mini hook, not needed, it has a very effective sliding stopper, the originla and best of this type.
The kite unhooks fine.
The 13M is still good for tricks and moves quick for a 13M kite. It is possible to do kite loops with it, the turn radius is tight and it still has good power in the turns.

Its not like the Rebel, its better in my opinion, and has a better wind range and bar feel, but thats just my opinion. Lots of people like the Rebel, but I think more like the rev.

Rev 09 bar is improved over the 08, and the safety system is very good, there is a good video on the slingy website.

The Rev 09, I have an 11M demo, is very similar to the 08, they have not changed it a lot, thankfully.

I've been using the REV 13m2 since Feb 08. That's a nice kite, fast turning for its size, powerfull but not extremely as the Cab SB2 12m2 I had last year (which was a truck, not responsive at all). Be cautious with the length of front and back lines as it can stall in very light winds (10knts). I found that it's better to fly it on the front lines. It loops on a small radius and goes upwind very well. Plus I crashed it on big and powerfull waves, getting the kite wrapped-up on the shore, with no damage to it, so construction is good too. And as soon as the wind picks-up and you pull the depower, it gets even more responsive. So depending which range of wind you will ride, but the REV13m2 is definitely a good choice. I've personally just bought the 9m2 from 2008 as I'll be riding in more windy places but haven't tried it yet. Good rebates and I prefer the design of 2008 edition.
Cheers

I also have a 2008 REV13mtr (FOR SALE) and for 2009 I will stay with the REV. It's a super kite, I use it from 12 to 20 knots, you can take more but that's not what it is designed for.
Used it in max. wind conditions of 27+ knots , ok i'm 98kg.
