I just heard about the holding of the second annual skills clinic by the Southern California Kiteboarding Association (SCKA) this Saturday. This is for existing kiteboarders out of instruction interested in adding some skills and not for beginners or folks looking to get into the sport.
The SCKA put this together in response to the tragic loss of a kiteboarder off Belmont Shores about a year ago. They look into self-rescue, preventive maintenance, Emergency Depowering practice and more.

I know the guys in Tampa hold clinics like this as well. K4Girls has offered this sort of things for years as well. Anyone else out there doing things like this? Lots of experienced kiteboarders may have not looked into these things much or at least recently. It would be a good thing to get going in other areas. Plus it gives riders a chance to swap experiences and ideas.
