This past weekend was rippin' down on the sandbar. Sunday saw gusts of what had to be above 50mph. I haven't looked at the iliesurf graphs for the weekend, but I was on the water and had trouble holding down a 7m '09 rebel (fully depowered) on my 127.
There were a handful of us riding from Kite Point (or, just below it as the beach was gone) on the sound side. But the real show was just beginning across the dunes in the ocean.
With the NNE wind and a nice swell, the conditions were ripe for anyone who wanted to take them on. Only one guy was in the ocean - at least in the immediate vicinity. That guy was Dimitri. No surprise really if you've seen him ride.
Anyway, I pulled out the camera and managed to get a few shots of him in the surf. I wish the pictures could have done the conditions justice, but you really had to be there to get the full effect.
A couple others launched but immediately ended up a few thousand meters downwind. Dimitri was the only one holding an edge... on a surfboard.
