Not happy with rev 13 m

Bought a 08 Rev 13 m and took it out in 18-25knots but had alot of trouble depowering it. When I pulled the depower rope down it also bought the stopper down which reduced the travel in the bar.
Not really a safe situation as I did'nt have full depower in the kite.
I would normally kite with ease with my xbow 12 in these conditions with depowering not being a issue . Am very tempted to ditch it in favor of the xbow system any thoughts??

My friend uses it with great success. He changed his bar though.
He made his rear lines longer, made his center depower reach longer, ditched his stopper ball.
What I can see is that he rips on this kite, either in real light winds when nobody else can kite or when it's too windy for my 12.
It's all in the length of the rear lines and the depower (length)

What I understand is, that the kite does not like any rear line tension.
Odd, but it works.
I used his kite once and was real surprised.
PS: the 13 is like a 15 power wise

I reckon you have the little round stopperball on the wrong side of the rope.
Move it to the rope side that joins the chicken loop, not the side that joins to the depower handle.

18-25 knots is the exact sweet spot for my 11 rev....i weigh 80 kg so for you holding a 13 down your heaveir than me i assume..??

25 knots and over i find the 11m rev too much so drop to the 9m fuel.

i find that once 4-5 inches of depower is pulled in the kite starts to flap a bit so i change down.

agree with above if the stopper ball is coming down as well either the fixed small ball is on the wrong part of the rope or its set at the wrong distance...which i think is 56cm from the top of the chicken loop housing

I agree completely with scilly. I'm the same size and fly an 11 REV. At 20 I can fly my 9 too. I set it up stock but a little trick for light winds - lengthen the front lines one knot longer than the back = turbo charging the low end. But will need to be depowered sooner, obviously.

IMO the Rev has been hyped up out of all proportion.
I bought 2 a 13m and 9m

I find the 13m is a real handful in anything over 20 knots
It's bottom end is really impressive but top end poor.
Same for the 9m, gets me going in 18 knots but becomes
quite unstable in upper twenties.
10 knots wind range for a SLE isn't enough in my opinion.
Also the depower doesn't seem to work well, if you push the bar out too far
the top of the kite pushes in.

I think they are a fantastic kite in steady winds within a certain windrange
But for range and top end stability especially in gusty winds I'm not impressed.

yeah i would have said those sort of winds are firmly in the 9 meter rev wind range, at 74kgs the range for my 13 meter rev was about 12-20 knots which is a pretty great range and i would have said the kite has more than enough depower, its just a big kitem at about 28 knots i would start to be pretty overpowered on my 9 meter, some of the best kites i've ever used i think you just bought one that was too big for the conditions u perhaps want to use it in.
i can go up wind on the 9 meter in 16 knots on my twin tip 136

btw u said the kite wasn't safe as when u pulled on more depower the stopper ball moved and u didn't have full depower .... that is full depower, any more and the kite will start to fly extremely poorly and unpredictably, as you've probably noticed it starts too when on full depower

I do have the stopper ball on the correct side of the slide, having longer rear lines as BS suggested was also my thought at the time, I was looking around for some rope to do this. I weight 85kg even though I had the kite depowered it was still way to much for me. As Bluerocketboy mentioned it does fly very unpredictable when fully depowered. In these conditions the xbow2 12 would thrive from 13-25knts Maybe this kite is just suited to 12- 20knt range seems to have far more power for just 1m extra area. As BS said it has the power of a 15m would have to agree with that.

also with the revs they are sized down
so a 13m is really a 14m kite
i placed a 11m rev over a 12m switchblade and the rev had as much canopy
it was even wider in the middle but thinner on the ends
thats why they get a great low end
