New Online Education System to Revolutionize IKO Teaching

IKO News:

New Online Education System to Revolutionize IKO Teaching Methods

IKO will soon be offering a new option for both independent kiters and instructors looking to further their education: online courses. These courses, which will cover topics from stretching and self-rescue to boat handling and teaching to children, will allow individuals to continue their study and improve their knowledge and skill sets from the comfort of their own homes.

The IKO-exclusive courses, in the final stages of being developed, will each be tailored to a specific ability level, with some courses available only to advanced kiteboarders and others available only to valid IKO instructors.
The variety of courses offered will provide something for everyone, and will ensure that a kiter of any level will be able to continue to develop her skills through the online education system.

For IKO Instructors, the courses will offer an added benefit - they will allow instructors to stay valid in the IKO system, giving them points for each applicable course completed. Thus, newly validated Level 1 instructors will no longer have to reach Level 2 status by any given date, as long as they stay active and earn the required number of points through online course study.

IKO is excited by the new possibilities created through this new training and educational feature, and hopes to make an even larger impact on the kiting community by providing a form of more accessible education.

The target launch date for the Online Education system is February 20th.

I am curious as to at what point someone must join the IKO and therefore HAVE TO SIGN THEIR INCREDIBLY OBNOXIOUS and LEGALLY QUESTIONABLE RELEASE:

Perhaps as part of this news release, they could post a copy of this RELEASE.

Well, i wish they good luck and i feel very complimented that they would follow what i am doing. Yes the tough part of the release i have already over come and taught many online courses and physical ones at the college.

It is good to see that maybe i am starting some trends inwhat i am doing, it is not easy to develope this stuff, but with time it with if anything help.

So your welcome for the idea and the heads up, but please be carefull i have copy rights and dated material, also all documented at the colleges, but if you need advise contact me.

And how is this any different then buying an instructional DVD and self-teaching? It's seems as the cycle has come full circle, i.e. self-teaching is bad - you need an IKO certified instructor back to self-teaching is okay if you pay for a IKO on-line course. The pigs are now walking on two legs (Geroge Orwell - 1984).

It's funny some of the on-line courses will only be available to "advanced"/"certified" riders. It would be kind of funny if you had to be an "advanced" and "certified" kiter to buy Fat Sands Progression Advanced DVD.

Just back from South Africa where at least one of the major schools is using BKSA teaching materials but to teach an IKO course and handing out IKO cards at the end.

I asked why they were using BKSA materials. Answer "They are better".

Made me proud.

Seriously I am wondering how can you teach somebody to kiteboard online?

Press F9 - release the kite?

looking forward to check it out

what's the problem teaching on line ? I mean ..
you can have teaching here, theaching there, teaching how, teaching on line, self teaching ..

who cares if it is IKO or what else ? telling you can not teach on line is teaching as well

just an example ..
get on you tube and check out for "pick and roll" basket ball
lots of teaching videos .. some can work som others suck

a bit more of positivity
